A typed carbon copy of a paper describing explorations of the North Shore of Minnesota in the summer of 1854, with information on settlement along the North Shore between 1854 and 1859. Brief information is given on censuses taken in the region between 1890 and 1920, and on post offices and postal service on the North Shore. The paper was prepared by N. J. Bray of Hovland, for the Cook County Old Settlers Reunion, held at Grand Marais, Minnesota, Wednesday, February 12, 1930.
